Welcome to Ortho at Einstein!
The surgeons of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center have been providing comprehensive care and management for all orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions for more than 50 years. These same surgeons are full-time teaching faculty of the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center. This residency program has been one of the largest and best training programs in the nation for over 50 years.
Our residents are graduate physicians from the finest medicals schools in the US. The residency program has produced over 500 Orthopaedic surgeons and at the current time has 30 young surgeons participating in the program. Our residents rotate through our three inpatient private hospials that make up the Montefiore Medical Center, our Level I trauma center at Jacobi Medical Center, North Central Bronx Hospital, and Blythedale's Children's Hospital. At these facilities, residents learn and become competent in General Orthopaedics, Sports Medicine, Arthroplasty, Foot and Ankle Surgery, Hand Surgery, Spine and Spinal Deformity Surgery, Orthopaedic Trauma, Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, Pediatric Orthopaedics, and Musculoskeletal Tumor Surgery.
Located in the Bronx, New York, our hospitals provide orthopaedic care for a majority of the 1.6 million people that live and work in this New York City borough. The economic, racial, and national diversity of the population provides a significant amount of common and rare orthopaedic pathology. This experience, combined with being just miles outside of the center of New York City, makes this program a very special place to spend five years completeing an orthopaedic residency.
